Why we're different

In case you can't already tell from this description, our event is unique in many ways, the most important of which is that it is a conference that is truly "for coaches, by coaches" —something very rare in the professional event world, yet we are also inclusive in that we welcome any and all professionals who are interested in learning more about health coaching and behavior change. However, to ensure the highest quality and integrity, we as an event intentionally do not accept any corporate sponsors or exhibitors who "pay to play," something which is common practice for just about every other conference. Rather, to avoid any type of program promotion, sly sales tactics, biased content or hidden agendas that seek to bolster the bottoms lines of certain businesses, this one-of-a-kind event is hosted by an unbiased husband and wife dynamic duo—both of whom are coaches and well-established leaders in their respective fields—who together are fully committed to creating a world class experience at a reasonable cost without any business bias or unnecessary bureaucracy.

What we stand for

Instead our grassroots event is fully self-funded (again, something almost unheard of in the conference world, but hey…we like to shake things up and disrupt the status quo). As such, we provide an opportunity for like minded individuals and organizations who share our vision around the advancement and diversification of the coaching profession and increased accessibility of coaching services to those who need it most to do so by contributing to the event in one of two unconventional ways.

One option available is for companies to provide direct scholarships to NBHWC-approved coach training programs that are made available at no-cost to aspiring coaches specifically from historically marginalized groups to provide a path to board certification that will help support diversity in representation within the coaching profession.

Additionally, organizations and/or individuals can also provide a monetary donation of any amount directly to a dedicated non-profit organization, through which 100% of the funds raised will be used to fairly compensate a national board certified health and wellness coach (NBC-HWC) trained in lifestyle medicine to serve at a community clinic in San Diego— the hometown of the event—creating not only employment opportunities but also specifically making high quality coaching services available at no cost specifically to individuals and communities who would greatly benefit from coaching but presently lack the means by which to access such programs and services.

These supporters who genuinely care about the betterment and diversity of representation in coaching profession as well as the health and well-being of all people will receive a special shout out both via social media and at the event, as we are happy to highlight these leaders and their commitment to "put their money where there mouth is" when it comes to supporting the greater good (because ultimately, when we come together, great things can happen!).
